Not all swarf is the same. Depending on the material and the machining process, chips behave in very different ways – they vary in volume, shape, moisture, oil content and even in their economic value.
And that’s exactly where the challenge begins. At ERBO, we don’t see swarf as waste. We see it as a material with potential – if it is handled correctly.
Whether the goal is volume reduction, oil recovery, improved recyclability or higher resale value: every material requires a different approach in conveying, processing and treatment.
This also includes the handling of swarf directly in the machining process – including extraction during operation. Integrated systems help keep production environments clean, reduce manual handling and improve overall process efficiency.

Place is limited, especially in productions. Whenever the chip volume becomes very large, employees need a lot of time to dispose of the chips. This not only disrupts the production process; especially voluminous, moist and oily chips create major space problems in the plant. Briquetting of the chips is a possible solution. The dried chips are pressed into a compact briquette form and freed from cooling lubricants. That way, they are easier to handle, can be reintroduced in the production cycle and also bring a higher revenue when resold.
